Thanks for reading! I think with time your dog will come to like people. Joy still growls a Carribean Pirate Growl (muffled) sometimes if she does not like someone – but not as often as when I got her. Her world is so much larger now that to her, everything is new. A puppy mill, a pound and a shelter – now life….I don;t know your dog’s history (maybe you can share sometime if you know it) but give it time….hugs, sherri

I’ve seen more “Sasha’s” and “Sascha’s” than I could shake a stick at — heck, some were CATS….some were BOYS.

I know a couple of Bailey cats — though I think one spells it “Bayleigh”.

I never thought of a puppy latte, but we often took Sasha to the Dairy King and got her a “doggy cup” — a tiny vanilla ice cream in a cup with a milkbone on top! Boy, how she loved that. She was a superstar at Dairy King, all the kids wanted to pet her and everyone would be all “oh that lady is buying ice cream for her DOG”! LOL!

Alas, my new dog can’t do that — she’s not social or friendly, and she dislikes children (we think she might have been abused by kids). She often growls if strangers approach her, which is so sad to us. I have to tell people not to pet her.

I am so happy to see Joy enjoying Florida. Our dog and our cats loved it there so much — we lived there for 3 years in the early 00s — and I don’t think the cats have ever forgiven us from taking them away from the land of tiny running lizards.

I always feel a pang when I see your photos of Bailey, and her gray muzzle; it reminds me of my dog Sasha who passed this year. My husband also does the same thing you mention here; he will call the new dog “Sasha”. Maybe they have blended together in his mind, both being border collies. Best wishes for a happy healthy New Year for your entire family, and I look forward to your finished book! (Have you checked out APLB, the Association for Pet Loss & Bereavement? I’m sure the folks there would be interested; at the minimum, there would be a lot of potential readers there.)
